Lifestyle portrait session with Shiann

Lifestyle portrait session with Shiann

Earlier this year, I had a burn out. I went through a tough time where I did not feel like myself. I was just irritated and exhausted. I had no inspiration and I felt like my creativity was suffering.

After a few weeks, I felt like I was slowly coming back to myself. Finding my creativity again. Regaining energy and motivation. Not feeling like I am falling behind.

That’s when I got in touch with Shiann and we started planning our lifestyle portrait session together.

For this shoot with Shiann, I had a few ideas in mind but not a clear vision of what I wanted to get from the session (ugh, hello burn out!). We were texting and sharing inspiration and she showed me a picture of this kimono. Right away, I knew I wanted to use it for the shoot and style it a certain way.

I love coming up with a concept, creating an entire shoot, photographing it and seeing it become a reality. It makes my heart happy.

Sometimes, we feel stuck and burnt out. But actually, doing something and “forcing” ourselves to create can help. I felt so much energized after this shoot. Finally, I was able to create something that was aligning with my brand, my style and my vision for my photography. What a relief!

I’ll post more pics of this shoot in another post. Different outfit, different look. Stay tuned!

Love,

Em

The gazelle and the old red car

The gazelle and the old red car

The gazelle and the old red car by Emilie Iggiotti

I have this thing with old cars and I can’t help it. I love old cars. And I really wanted to do a shoot with an old car but I did not know anyone who had an old car with lots of character.

Then I met my friend Tara (aka Akward Gazelle on Instagram) and one day, as I was watching one of her stories on Instagram, I saw that she is in a very fancy red car. I asked her whose car it was, and she said that it is her boyfriend’s car. Then I said: would you mind doing a shoot with me with that car? And she said yes!

So, fast forward a few months later, when we were finally able to find a date and plan the photo session. We had lots of fun!

I must add something: Tara did all the styling of that session. She has such great taste and an amazing style. It’s so easy to collaborate with her. She just comes up with these amazing outfits. So, all you have to do is pose her and take photos. Seriously, this is unbelievable. I am trying to convince her to become a stylist for all my shoots. Haha!

If you think she has great style, please say it in the comments!

Editorial Mother Muse

Editorial Mother Muse

A few months ago, the ladies at Plaid and Paisley Littles Boutique asked me if I would be interested in shooting an editorial for them, for Mother Muse. Being a fan of the magazine already, of course, I said yes. Plus, I needed to shoot something different, and I am always in for a good collaboration that boosts my creativity. Well, let me tell you that I was not disappointed. Brandi, Bryttani and Brookelyn had something specific in mind, and it was a bit different from what I usually shoot. But the truth is that I liked being pushed, I liked getting out of my comfort zone.

French girl shoot in Edmonton

French girl shoot in Edmonton

When Ashley and I decided to shoot together, I sent her a few images for inspiration. And then when I looked at the images I sent, I told her the theme were obviously: French girl in Edmonton waiting for her boyfriend. Hahaha!

The day we were supposed to shoot was not exactly the best day for both of us. My phone died the day before, and I had to go to a shop in a mall almost outside of the city to get it repaired. They gave me a temporary phone until mine was getting repaired, and then I was late for the photo shoot. Ashley got lost on her way back from the make-up artist studio, and could not reach me, and she was late for the photo shoot too. We both started the shoot on a very stressful note, but ended up laughing about it.

The Queen of HollywoodEdmonton Women Photographer

The Queen of Hollywood

When I asked my friend Danielle to pose for me, I did not have an exact idea of what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted something glamorous and classy. But it’s only when I saw this dress in Danielle’s closet that I had this idea of a shoot around the theme of the “Queen of Hollywood”. As an Edmonton photographer specializing in women portraits, it’s important for me to create imagery that tell real and honest stories.

Queen of Hollywood is a song by The Corrs, one of my favourite groups from the 90’s. The story of the song is a bit sad, but it’s a beautiful song.

I wanted the series to follow the lyrics of the song… it starts as a happy story, a woman who follows her dreams and wants to become the Queen of Hollywood. But soon, she starts losing her spark, and her life becomes sad. It’s the story of so many persons, who go after their dreams, but realize that their life can become completely different. It’s not easy to try to follow your dreams, sometimes you lose yourself while doing it. But the woman in the song never gives up, she believes that she’ll be the Queen of Hollywood.

The series start with bright and happy photos, but end with moody, dark and blurred pictures to emphasize the despair she is starting to feel.

I hope you will enjoy these images! And how gorgeous is my friend Danielle Lucier?
