You won't like all your branding photos

Here is an unpopular opinion (from a branding photographer): you won't like 100% of the photos from your branding photoshoot. And this should be a relief.

No branding photoshoot is a one-time and done session forever.

Branding is about refining your approach, your messaging, your imagery. I like  most of my own branding photos but not 100% of them. And that's okay.  It's not the photographer's fault, it's not about skills, it's just the  way it is.

I never finish a shoot and think: "That's it, I did it, it was the most  perfect branding shoot ever and I am done." This will never happen,  because we are always evolving and changing. These photos you love right  now? Soon, they will feel a bit outdated, a bit different, like a pair  of denim that does not quite fit anymore. Do not see this as a failure.  Nobody makes one thing one time and loves it forever.

It's a process, a journey. And sometimes, we come back to that thing we  created and we appreciate it for the moment in time it captured. And it  feels comfortable, cozy. And then we move on to the next vision, the next step.

You won't like 100% of your branding images because you are meant to keep trying, keep showing up.

Imagine if Nike or Addidas did a photoshoot in 1997, and never released new commercial photos ever again. This is insanity.

So why are you so hard on yourself? Why do you do one branding shoot and expect it to be perfect the first time?

Mastery comes with practice and consistency. Keep trying, keep practising, keep showing up.

This is the only way forward.
